AJ & Starla Chapman - My Take

http://www.kimboxphotography.com/
I realize I'm not a little late....I'm A LOT late to this story, but I believe my take on it is still something I want to give.

As background, I suggest you read or watch the story of AJ McCarron & Starla Chapman if you don't know this story already, because I really don't want to regurgitate their story, which is an awesome one no less, but add my little tidbit on it.

Tithing For a Husband....

I was watching BET's series The Game the other night...perhaps last week, when I noted a rather disturbing scene.

In it Melanie was writing her "weekly tithing wish" on the sizeable check that she was filling out to give to the Church that week. In her mind, if she tithed, and tithed big, then God would reward her with her wishes...like a Genie, or Santa.

I thouhgt it a sad scene until a friend of mine, *Kallie* related this story to me.

Jason Whitlock/ Tim Tebow...O Father Where Art Thou?

Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos from Foxsports.com
I'll admit it, I am drinking the Kool-Aid. I believe Tim Tebow to be one of the greatest and most needed sports stories in decades, if not ever. And not just because he too is a virgin :-D, but because he stands so steadfastly beside and for his beliefs in God, and has done so as long as I've personally known him to exist.

The Attack on Black Women

I know I am late, but better late than never, right?...Anyway.

A week or so ago a scientist from Japan claimed to have evidence that Black women were deemed to be the most unattractive form of all people...not just womanhood, but ALL people, period. He claimed that the raised level of testosterone in Black women caused this, while the same raised level of testosterone in Black men made them more attractive.

And while I could attack him as a Scientist...the point is not whether or not he is or is not a scientist, nor is it whether or not he is right...the point is, is that he is.

More Thoughts on Women being Liars...

As y'all know, I have been sort of interpreting the words of Tracy McMillan into more digestible dialogue...if you will. Along the way, though, I got into a conversation that has sort of got me worried FOR REAL about the state of relationships between Black women and Black men...in particular.

Missing the Signs

Yesterday I was reading comments on an article written about interracial dating and marriages and the question was asked why so few white men approach Black women. And one of the answers that was given was the fact that nobody likes rejection, and seeing as it is known that most Black women in America prefer Black men, and absolutely would not date a white man, then most white men don't even bother with the task.

This, of course got me to thinking, have I been guilty of giving off said signs? I mean I think I have a good mixture of friends, but have I been guilty of giving off said preference?...I answered no, but then wondered why I still felt guilty after reading the remark....

Because I have been guilty of sticking so strongly to the Platonic Female ethos that I allowed many signs to pass me by.

The Divide in the Black Community

I have to admit it.

The past few days have been filled with more grief and sadness over the state of the people I call my own, more than any other time. And it all started when I went to a gossip site to find out more about a mixed high-school basketball player that I wrote about in my Post, "Happy New Year..". From there, my head has been spinning reading the comments of Black women and Black men tear each other to shreds over everything from looks, to dating preferences. I have even read blogs that while promoting the Black female in Interracial relationships, simultaneously puts down virtually every Black man at the same time.

Happy New YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Where's the Love?

So it's a New Year and tons of things have changed...and then again nothing has changed.

The SEC is still number one in College Football....but instead of Alabama, Auburn is #1

The Braves made the Playoffs, and lost in the first round...but coming up...no Bobby Cox

The Celtics are great and Shaq is on a playoff contending team....again

And just like clockwork race is still a factor in so many areas of our lives; sports, movies and dating.....as in Black women are still bitter about Black men choosing to date outside their race.

So...umm...tell me why again?

Why?

Why write a blog chronicling the non-existent love life of a late 20-something year old Black woman?

Why tell about never being in any sort of a relationship, or never having been kissed or asked on a proper date?
