Oprah and The 30 Year Old Virgin

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really want to throw up my hands at OPRAH, because seriously what she did today really PISSED me off!!!

In case you missed the episode, it was entitled the 30 year old Virgin and she had two women who fit the mold and a sex therapist on to help them out....point of the show....if you're 30 or older and are a female...you SHOULD be having sex by now....and something is wrong with you for not doing it now.

Now, I know that the two women on this show, did feel that there WAS something wrong with them, and listening to them, I heard their distress over not having closer male relationships. But to title the show as such and present the topic as such without a woman who actually CHOSE to stay a virgin, was to me... irresponsible.

It never ceases to amaze me that this topic is always presented as a problem. It is never presented as a good thing, unless teen pregnancy is the topic of the day, but even then contraceptives are preferable as the way to stay out of trouble than abstinence.

So, really I am just mad again at the obvious disrespect shown to those who choose to remain virgins for whatever reasons. I don't have any affliction, nor am I a frigid B****, I choose to remain a virgin until I am married because of my religious and logical convictions.....I have not been in a relationship because I have an affliction LOL :-).

The End LOL

  1. It is a very good idea that you keep yourself until you are married. Oprah is living in the world, she was sexually abused, unfortunately many people don't understand the value of marriage and sex in marriage. They act like dogs and cats, without any thinking, hence there are high incidencies of sexual transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, abortions, poverty.

Now you say you want to be married, have you started making preparations to get married.
What type of man you want to get married to?
What is your ideal physical features, his characteristics. Where will you live, is he a business man, what preparations are you doing to get married. I believe in praying for a husband, also read Ruth and Esther.
What seeds are you sowing into your future, are you sowing into a married couple, helping them, do you pay your tithes and offerings into your future, for marriage, husband and children.

    Habakkuk 2:2-3
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

When you wait on God, you be active waiting, get your beauty treatments down, sort out your cooking skills, sort out your finances, try on wedding dresses, what do you want your wedding to be like, get a book and write down your ideas and cut out pictures from magazines, pictures from the internet.

  2. Dear Doll,

I just watched a segment of the show on "Oprah: Behind the Scenes" and was equally exasperated. So exasperated I had to google.

There is NOTHING wrong with being a 30+ virgin. I am not going to resort to a religious text to defend that statement and it was certainly not fair to run the show without the input of those who choose to remain virgins.

I am simply not interested in losing it for the sake of losing it. Nothing is going to happen if I never come across a man with whom I truly love and respect. Period.

I am not some weird gun-totting conservative. Just a healthy woman who will not let society dictate when I should lose my virginity and to whom.
