My take on Doug and Beauty and Stan
This is actually the second part of a two part series. If you haven’t read the first one go back to the previous post here…
So, my reaction to this whole thing is that I feel sorry for Stan…but not really. He put out feelers for Beauty, she clearly didn’t want him, and so he tried to push the subject, and then got hurt by her rejection. I mean I feel sorry that he didn’t get what he wanted, but then again, not really.
What I am really upset about, though, is that Beauty did not man-up and take care of her business the way she should have. Stan put his feelings out there, which is hard, and she basically squashed them. At her initial rebuff I am NOT mad about. But to a five paragraph essay on why she doesn’t want to go out with Stan a week…as in 7…SEVEN days later?-BULL!
That’s right B-U-L-L!!!!
No self respecting woman waits that long to tell a BRO, how she feels. No wind, rain or snow storm will ever keep a woman from sharing her feelings with a guy she actually cares about.
And as a note of reality….when a woman puts a man into the Brother category, this is woman speak for un-dateable, for whatever reason. Most men understand this, so generally this is not a problem. But as a more poignant point of reference….no woman talks about how she “never gets approached by guys” WITH her Brothers. This is not safe territory with any brother, especially if she knows that one of her Brothers is having “incestuous” thoughts about her.
Such conversations get those little wheels turning in heads that should not be turning. And seeing as I shall never think women nearly as insipid and stupid as most men are wont to do…then I’ll say that Beauty had this situation coming to her.
She clearly had a thing for one of her Brothers, but the wrong one took the bait. That’s right, she tried to play her “Sister” card and flirt at the same time…GROSS by the way, and it all backfired. So to keep the damage to the minimum…Read –in order to be able to stay in the sister roll so that she can work on the object of her affection…she writes a super long letter that allows her to stay innocent in the whole situation. Her letter was not for Stan’s benefit, it was for her benefit, she felt guilty that she misled Stan, and so tried to absolve herself with a letter filled with hundreds of words where twenty would have sufficed.
And to make matters worse? Chief Save-A-Whore wants to ride in to save the day, by sending Stan on a Dummy Mission…and For WHO Exactly??? For himself.
